    Moths 101: A Look at Moths Seen in Tidewater and Their Caterpillars  In this Zoom presentation, Maurice A. Cullen of the Butterfly Society of Virginia will discuss ways to attract and identify moths and also how to find and identify their caterpillars. It is a great preview for anyone signing up for the in-person Moth Night on September 23 (see below).     Moth Night at the Norfolk Botanical Garden Maurice A. Cullen, Russ Halvorsen, and Nate Gilbert of the Butterfly Society of Virginia provide a Free IN-PERSON program so you can learn about moths beginning with an indoor presentation of mounted specimens of both local and tropical moths, with a question and answer session. Participants will then move outside to see what species of moths are attracted to sheets using both UV and mercury vapor lights. Bait stations will also be set up for moths that are not particularly attracted to lights.     Mesmerizing Monarchs and their Migration In this Zoom Program by Lauren Tafoya of the Butterfly Society of Virginia/NBG Butterfly House Curator,  you will learn about the basics of the North American Monarch Butterfly and it’s lifecycle, as well as the phenomena of its migration to Mexico! Students will also discuss the conservation efforts of the species and how they can help.
